Miniature electric locomotive GE 5200, VANDECA, CPEF, in scale 1:87 – HO. Approximate length: 21 cm. This was the first electric locomotive designed and built in Brazil at General Electric do Brasil workshops, in Campinas, São Paulo. 10 units were produced for the Cia. Paulista de Estradas de Ferro (CPEF), in 1967, with a gauge of 1.60 m, power of 5130 HP and weight of 144 tons. Painted in the traditional blue and cream CPEF scheme, they were numbered 350 to 359. His inaugural trip took place on May 6, 1967 with the presence of the then governor of the state of São Paulo, Laudo Natel. As always happened with all the locomotives of our railroads, in which each one received a nickname inspired by scenes or characters of the time, this one was nicknamed “Vandeca”, in homage to the singer Vanderléa, belonging to the movement called “young guard” “, headed by Roberto Carlos and Erasmo Carlos. In 1971 they passed to FEPASA where they were renumbered from 6351 to 6360 and gradually were painted in the FEPASA phase I scheme. Later, they received the colors red and black with the white inscriptions, from phase II. None of them received the gray paint, from phase III of FEPASA. Miniature electric locomotive C30-7, “MRS”, in scale 1:87 – HO. Approximate length: 22.5 cm. The C30-7 produced by General Electric is a 3-axis bogie locomotive, with 3000HP of power, produced in the late 70’s. In Brazil, 48 C30-7 were produced, 41 of which for EF Carajás and 7 for EF Cutrale Quintella, to operate on Fepasa’s wide gauge lines. With the possibility of importing used locomotives, our railways started to bring hundreds of C30-7 from the USA. In April 2007 the number of them already exceeded 500 in Brazil. General purpose locomotives, used in gauges ranging from 1.00m to 1.67m for both passenger and cargo service, but not recommended for yard maneuvers. Most of these locomotives were manufactured at the Brazilian unit of General Electric, in Campinas – SP, and supplied to the Brazilian railways at several companies. Miniature electric U20C locomotive, “VLi”, in 1:87 – HO scale. Approximate length: 21.5 cm. Just as General Motors’ G-12 was considered, in 1956, as the ideal choice for railways in developing countries due to its favorable cost-performance ratio, the U-20-C became one of these general application, used in gauges ranging from 1.00m to 1.67m, both for passenger and cargo service, but not recommended for maneuvers in yards. Most of these locomotives were manufactured at the Brazilian General Electric unit, in Campinas (SP), and supplied to Brazilian railways, or exported to Mozambique, Jordan, Angola, Bolivia, etc. The U-20-C locomotives manufactured in the USA they were also exported to Colombia, Angola.
