Here is a CUSTOMIZED Athearn Southern Pacific SD40-T-2.  Tested and works. Someone went to some effort to upgrade this blue box era diesel. It is not a 100% professional job, but the upgrades are good to have.  Upgraded to smoother motor MARS light Lights on nose and on rear Operating strobe in cab top Handrails applied Endrails painted white Some selective clearcoat Visors over windows Some trucks side detail Even though these upgrades are not perfect, they are nice to have.   PLEASE look at all pictures and enlarge them as they are part of the description. CONDITION: C-6. Tested and runs and lights. Custom Strobe, headlights work. Has had lights added on the front nose and on the back. I believe the motor has been upgraded as it runs smooth and quietly. Custom visors over cab windows have some visible paint.  Looks to have been selectively clearcoated. Handrails assembled and end rails painted white. Some detail applied to truck sides. A few nicks.  Needs couplers. No box.  This one is running nice, but it is always a good idea to lubricate these used locomotives before extensive run time since we do not know how long they have been sitting.
