These engines are known for their strong die-cast bodies, detailed boiler castings, and excellent running performance when tuned. This example shows typical age wear but remains a solid and desirable 1947 engine suitable for display or restoration.
The piece retains its unweighted thick-shank unweighted link coupler. The engine runs well in both directions. The reverse unit is fairly consistent but does occasionally skip a cycle. The headlamp is also functional.
Chassis is marked “Varney” with casting number V-947 and truck marked 1655. Locomotive has not been tested and is being sold as-is for restoration, display, parts, or collection. Condition shows heavy age and use wear including paint loss, touch-up paint, scratches, oxidation, and surface wear throughout.
This item was just taken out of an original 312 SIT a couple of weeks ago, so all the wiring, etc. is just like the factory.
Proudly manufactured in the United States in 1947. It has been tested and runs well in both forward and reverse. The smoke unit as original. The motor has had the brushes replaced and lubricated.
Both are in fantastic condition tested and work great e-unit is strong with no hesitation, smoke unit works great and whistle sounds fantastic! no original boxes.
