This item has been graded per TCA standards C-7: Excellent. This item shows some scratches, scrapes, nicks, and spots of paint loss on the shell and chassis. This item is in overall excellent condition, free of broken trim pieces. The rails show slight bending and the windows show light scratches. This item did not run when tested so its being sold as is. This item has been out on display previously and its overall appearance could be significantly improved with a thorough dusting or a light wipe down. The instruction manual is not included. The wheels show average signs of wear. This item has been out on display previously and its overall appearance could be significantly improved with a thorough dusting or a light wipe down. Lionel 1588 Clockwork Torpedo Locomotive with Tender – Possible Repaint Runs

Up for sale today is a Lionel 1588 Torpedo clockwork locomotive with the continuous air whistle. It may have been repainted in the past, and does have paint chipping in spots. I was able to oil the clockwork mech and give it a partial wind with a clock key to see that everything functions, but it doesn’t have the correct key to supply a proper wind. It is being sold as-in, with the missing key in mind. Thanks for looking and please don’t hesitate with any questions.

Please see all photos so you know exactly what you will receive. Everything shown is included. These trains came into my possession in much worse condition than this, and I have cleaned them to the best of my ability without taking anything apart. The Lionel 253 is missing what I believe to be a screw and is not connected to the base. I have not tested anything, however due to the condition I would assume they will not work as is. I do not know the last time they were turned on. There is some serious rust and other major signs of wear, but it’s not horrible for being 100 years old. As a reminder, these are being sold purely FOR PARTS/REPAIR. Thank you!
