Over 2,000 copies of the Kö(f) II were built over the very long period from 1933 to 1965. Many different manufacturers supplied the so-called performance class II for the DRG and DB, which covered the engine power range from 51 – 150 hp. The Kö(f) II were delivered with open driver’s cabs and a semi-automatic shunting coupling. By 1968, 67 machines were equipped with the newer BSI shunting coupling. Between 1971 and 1976, a large number of the Köf IIs were converted to be “winterproof” – the train drivers were now able to experience the advantages of a closed driver’s cab with heating! From the mid-1970s onwards, the need for small locomotives fell steadily. Despite the decline, the last Köf II, now redesignated as BR 323, was only retired from DB AG in 1999. Runs Great on AC or DC. The headlights have been replaced and work well. ( I ran this engine on my layout pulling 14 four-wheel cars! See photos for condition. ).
This locomotive is in excellent used condition. It has been tested and runs in both forwards and reverse as it should.
