Kato N 176-4015-DCC Union Pacific UP EMD SD70M Diesel Locomotive Excursion Train

  •

Introduced in 1992, the EMD SD70M was a 4,000 horsepower locomotive that ran on EMD’s new steerable truck design, known as the HTCR-II radial truck. This new truck allowed the locomotive to transfer its power to the rails more efficiently, which in turn enabled two SD70M locomotives to pull a train that would have taken 3 SD40-2s to pull.

This locomotive has been tested and runs well. The Union Pacific “Armour Yellow” and “Harbor Mist Gray” colors are vibrant and correctly saturated. The red “Union Pacific” lettering and the road number “4015” are sharp and free of smudging. The long-hood handrails and cab railings appear straight and properly seated in their stanchions. The gray trucks are clean and free of dust or hair buildup. The wheel treads appear bright, suggesting the model has had very little run time.
