The HO Atlas BNSF GP38 DCC With Sound ESU 2028 is a ready-to-go model of a diesel locomotive in 1:87 scale. Unit has been detailed to match the prototype, had PTC, non working ditchlights, weathered, and has Factory ESU sound, chassis was swapped few years ago for Sound.
Therefore, all engines, even those listed as “new” are being sold explicitly “for parts only”. An S-Helper Consolidation 2-8-0. Note that when these power down, it will emit a rather peculiar noise.
Factory painted and numbered to match Union Pacific #1470. Custom weathered. DCC/Sound & keep alive have already been professionally installed. Tested on 1/23/26 and found all sound functions to work as they should.
This engine will take 9.3″ curves but looks terrible. It is more scale at 12″ and above.preferably above.

The tender top is loose on the chassis and requires careful handling. The wire from the locomotive to the tender needs to be re routed. Come in the storage box shown. This listing is for a vintage Athearn ‘Little Monster’ as they called it. Runs decent, a bit slower in reverse. This will ship in corrugated box and bubble wrap.
