Full-production locomotives began production starting 2003; the -500 and -300 subseries were produced later in 2009 and since 2021 respectively as improved versions of the original EF510.As with most JR Freight locomotives these are given a nickname, the EF510’s being ECO-Power Blue Thunder due to their blue color schemes when introduced.
