In 1950, Fairbanks-Morse introduced the 1,600 hp (1.2 MW) H-16-44, while Baldwin introduced the 1,600 hp (1.2 MW) Baldwin AS-16. ALCO’s 1,500 hp (1.1 MW) line was the RS-2, although 31 were built in 1950 with 1,600 hp (1.2 MW).

The SW1200 was the third model of 1,200 hp SW series switchers built by EMD. It was a successor to the SW7 and SW9. Late SW1200s built in 1966 were instead built with the 567E 12-cylinder engine. Most of the locomotive’s external features were unchanged from the SW9, making distinguishing between the two models difficult.

Loco is early variation with 10 handrail stanchions each side, complete trim including unbroken antenna. Chassis has very minor bow, as is often the case, near 100% decals. Paint finish has light edge and detail wear, light dirt on top surfaces, a small fade spot near bell trim.

This locomotive has been serviced with synthetic oil and runs and pulls very good and the light works to. This is a later model switcher that is made like the Postwar models with magnetraction and it is a bellringer and the e unit works great also. Very little use. Comes in the original box that is nice.
