Up for sale is an Athearn “Blue Box” HO Gauge vintage EMD SD40-2 locomotive, used. The locomotive is adorned in Santa Fe’s attractive Blue and Yellow freight scheme. The locomotive is equipped with DCC which has been tested to perform as intended. The condition of the locomotive is C-5 Good with some minor evidence of previous operation on a layout (please refer to the pictures). There is slight layer of dust evident on the walkways. Made of plastic and steel in the United States by Lionel, this piece is ideal for hobbyists aged 17 years and up. I did test this locomotive and it runs smooth and with power. The light function is missing the bulb.
The original box top is EX with a couple of dings; however, the bottom has 2 split corners and the bottom is “torn up” (see PICs). It does not look original due to how the loco area is cut out. The top foam cover is black and looks ok.
