FOR SALE:1 Pair of HO Southern Railway EMD Diesels 1 FP7a and 1 F7b unit; both powered, Factory Painted Green Analog I bought these Locomotives new from Roanoke Rails, in the mid 1980's. They have been gently used and were the pride of my HO layout. Both are powered and run well. Please keep in mind the technology of the time, they are on the noisy side compared to new units and of course they are analog having been manufactured prior to the onset of the Tech Revolution in model railroading. They are fitted with Kadee couplers and have directional headlights. There is no glazing in the windows. There is a small ziplock bag with Microscale numbers in each box for individually making the unit numbers the owner prefers. They are in their original boxes with their original wrapping and foam which is till in good shape. Also please note that these units have been fitted with close coupling to have prototypical spacing between them yet can negotiate sharp curves as shown in the picture. The Southern Railway was one of the first major railways to fully Dieselize by June 1953, and were heavily into EMD Diesels. The models include of the passenger version of the F7 which EMD called the FP7a and a duel purpose F7b with steam generator. The FP7a car body was 3 feet longer to accommodate the addition of the water reservoir for the steam heat generator. Southern starting receiving the FP7a in 1949 and this model is in its original livery, the single stripe green livery. This pattern which was introduced on ALL classes of Southern Diesels from 1949 until the green was replaced by the famous black "tuxedo" livery starting in 1958.
