Features of this E-unit includes a detailed, injection-molded body, five-pole motor with dual flywheels, all-wheel electrical pickup, heavy die cast metal chassis, fine decoration, directional LED headlights and Kato magnetic knuckle couplers. Bodies come in several different headlight, pilot, number board and dynamic brake configurations as appropriate for each roadname or scheme. The EMD E8A (E9A) operated on railroads from coast to coast, so this N Scale model will look right at home on your 1950s-and-later layout. This standard DC unit features a lighting control board that can be swapped for a DCC decoder when you’re ready (available separately). This EMD E8A is one of many Kato N Scale diesel locomotives. Kato 176-5346 – EMD E8A DC Silent Amtrak (AMTK) 298 – N Scale Part Number:4949727691183 Description Kato 176-5346 – EMD E8A DC Silent Amtrak (AMTK) 298 – N Scale DescriptionPrototype Information: The E8 and E9 diesel locomotives share the similar bulldog nose carbody style as the shorter, more popular F7 and were powered by two separate 12-cylinder prime movers (i.e., diesel engines) capable of producing 2250/2400 hp. E8 and E9 locomotives also rode on A-1-A trucks (powered axle-idler axle-powered axle), resulting in an exceptionally smooth ride favored by crews. The E8 and E9 were produced in both A-units and cabless B-units; the A-units were usually built to railroad specification of either single or dual headlight and freight or passenger pilot. Like the F3 and F7 of the same time period, the E8 and E9 were utilized in both passenger and freight service. Model Information: The Kato EMD E8 and E9 locomotive both come in A and B (cabless) variations, similar to that of their smaller F unit sister locomotives.Model Features: Locomotives will be equipped with a mix of body and truck mounted KATO magnetic knuckle couplers. Locomotives feature directional Golden White LED headlights and illuminated preprinted numberboards where appropriate. C&NW units: Prototypical blanked number board spaces to imitate their late appearance. Locomotives have a powerful five pole motor with all wheel electrical pickup and blackened wheels. DESCRIPTION: This is a rare Suydam HO gauge brass model of a Pacific Electric “Portland Twelve” class interurban car, powered. It was purchased new when these models were first produced several years ago and it has been in storage ever since. It has never been run. Cars 1252-1263 came to PE in 1928 after Southern Pacific’s line originally known as The Portland, Eugene & Eastern Railway abandoned service, hence their Pacific Electric nickname . These cars were built by the Pullman Company in 1912 for the PE&E. The Portland cars continued to serve until the end of all 1200 Class cars in 1950. A nice feature of these cars was the greenish stained glass on the upper portion of all side windows (see photo).
